Mamuju, July 1, 2026 – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Mamuju Regency reported that Mamuju recorded 0.65 percent month-to-month inflation in June 2026. The increase ended the two-month deflationary trend and reflected rising prices of several strategic commodities in the region. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased from 110.91 in May 2026 to 111.63 in June 2026. Cumulatively, year-to-date inflation reached 1.31 percent, while year-on-year inflation stood at 3.24 percent.

On a monthly basis, inflation was primarily driven by the Food, Beverages, and Tobacco group, which contributed the largest share of 0.28 percentage points. The Transportation group and the Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuels group also made significant contributions to June’s inflation. Meanwhile, the Household Equipment, Appliances, and Routine Maintenance group was the only expenditure group to record deflation.

The increase in prices during June was mainly influenced by higher prices of several food commodities, including scad, shallots, red chili, and bird’s eye chili. In addition, house rental and air transportation also contributed to inflation. On the other hand, lower prices of squid, tuna, and tomatoes helped moderate the overall increase in prices.

On an annual basis, the 3.24 percent inflation was still dominated by price increases in the Food, Beverages, and Tobacco group, followed by the Transportation group and the Personal Care and Other Services group. Commodities contributing the most to annual inflation included air transportation, gold jewelry, skipjack tuna, scad, machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM), and mobile phones. In contrast, katamba fish, chicken eggs, and bananas contributed to easing annual inflation.

Compared with other regions in West Sulawesi, Mamuju recorded the highest monthly inflation at 0.65 percent. During the same period, Majene Regency recorded 0.36 percent inflation, while West Sulawesi Province posted 0.48 percent inflation. On an annual basis, Mamuju’s inflation rate also remained higher than Majene (1.70 percent) and the West Sulawesi provincial average (2.29 percent).

The June 2026 inflation figures indicate that fresh food commodities continue to be the primary drivers of inflation in Mamuju Regency, alongside rising transportation and housing costs. Therefore, strengthening supply management, ensuring smooth distribution, and closely monitoring the prices of strategic commodities remain essential to maintaining price stability and protecting household purchasing power.
