Abstract

Year-on-year inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the rise in several expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 7.57 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.72 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 1.82 percent; furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance group by 0.60 percent; the health group by 0.46 percent; the transportation group by 0.20 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.03 percent; the education group by 4.72 percent; the food and beverage services/restaurant group by 1.90 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 2.37 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in index were: the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.23 percent.
The month-to-month deflation rate (m-to-m) for May 2025 was 0.36 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) or calendar year inflation for May 2025 was 2.38 percent.
